Austin FC II is a new squad that is a reserve team of Austin FC and participates in MLS Next Pro. Their first season is starting soon and tickets are now on sale.
On August 4, 2022, Austin FC was named as one of seven MLS clubs that would field a team in the MLS Next Pro league beginning in the 2023 season.
A few months later, Austin FC announced that the MLS Next Pro club would be called Austin FC II.
Austin FC II’s home venue for MLS NEXT Pro matches is Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center (the same location as The Pitch).
The purpose of Austin FC II is to develop players to compete at a high level and provide a pathway to becoming an MLS player on the Austin FC first team.
Brett Uttley will be the first coach for Austin FC II. Holding both a UEFA A License and UEFA Elite Youth A License from the Football Association of Wales, Uttley has been an assistant coach at the college, USL Championship, and MLS levels.
The team will consist of players on first-team contracts with Austin FC, as well as players who Austin FC II sign directly to the team, and Austin FC Academy players. The team will train at the St. David’s Performance Center, where Austin FC trains.
