Austin FC has announced a major organizational shakeup, parting ways with Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell and Head Coach Nico Estévez, effective immediately.

As Austin FC launches a search for permanent replacements, an interim leadership structure has been established to steady soccer operations. Davy Arnaud has been named Interim Head Coach and will take the reins ahead of the upcoming match against St. Louis CITY SC on May 23.
The Search for New Leadership
While internal efforts are already underway to find the next head coach, Austin FC is casting a wide net for its next sporting executive. Austin FC has partnered with Excel Search & Advisory (the executive search division of Excel Sports Management) to spearhead a global search for a new Sporting Director.
The objective is to secure a leader who aligns with Austin FC’s long-term vision and competitive goals across the first team, second team, and academy levels.
The front office views the upcoming 60-day mid-season pause, which begins immediately following the St. Louis CITY SC match, as a crucial and natural window to manage this transition and reposition the franchise for future success.
Arnaud Steps into the Interim Role
This marks the second interim stint for Arnaud, who previously stepped up in 2024 to guide Austin FC to a 3-2 season-closing victory against Colorado.
Arnaud also brings prior experience from a nine-match interim managerial run with the Houston Dynamo in 2019. Throughout his career, his combined record as an interim head coach is 4 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw.
