Austin FC had a huge 2019 with lots of big news and announcements starting with the official announcement as the 27th team in MLS.
2019 also marked the opening of the Austin FC office in March. Then in May there was an announcement that St. David’s HealthCare bought the naming rights to Austin FC’s training facility and practice jerseys
In June the season ticket memberships were launched and ticket deposits were collected for over 30,000 seats.
Then in July Josh Wolff was announced as the head coach of Austin FC.
August saw the announcement of additional people to the ownership group, including Matthew McConaughey.
The stadium groundbreaking took place in September. Construction can be tracked from the Austin FC site on a construction cam.
Also this past fall there were St. David’s Healthcare Community Camps for kids around Austin, as well as lots of Meet and Greets with Austin FC ownership, staff, and the fans.
2019 was also the first season for the Austin FC U14 Academy team. In November, the Austin FC eMLS Challenge took place.
Finally, in December 2019 Austin FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna was announced.
It was a fun year seeing Austin FC gaining more presence in the city through billboards, community involvement, and events.
