Don’t Miss the Stuver Social on Sunday, November 23, 2025

The Stuver Social is back. Join Austin FC goalie Brad Stuver; North Carolina Courage (NWSL) and the United States national team goalie Casey Murphy; and the Equality Texas Austin Steering Committee for a social event raising funds for the fight for LGBTQIA+ equality.

General admission is $30 and includes food, drinks, and the opportunity to mix and mingle with Brad and Casey and the volunteers and staff dedicated to defending LGBTQIA+ Texans.

For the soccer fanatics, take a shot on record-breaking MLS all-star Brad Stuver. Each shot is $50 (two shots maximum per guest). These sell out fast so get in while you can.

I’ve done this at past Stuver Social events and I am currently 4 for 6. Watch me net my 5th goal on Brad!

All proceeds will benefit Equality Texas Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization that works to secure full equality for LGBTQIA+ Texans through education, community organizing, and collaboration.

Los Verdes Supports La Brigada De Oro

Last week, Nashville SC supporters group La Brigada De Oro canceled their game-day activities in the wake of ICE sweeps. Austin FC supporters group Los Verdes has posted in support of La Brigada De Oro.

Los Verdes honors and stands with the act of bravery and defiance that La Brigada De Oro and their fútbol family showed by canceling their match day activities and attendance at last week’s Nashville SC match due to increased ICE activity in their area.

The stands should be a safe place where we stand in shared passion for fútbol y communidad. No member should feel unsafe in their community due to nationality, ethnicity, or immigration status.

Our family and our community are not complete when we are not all here. Supporters should not have to choose between safety and sport. This kind of targeted harassment does not and will not stop with Nashville. We stand alongside our fútbol family throughout the United States in defiance of xenophobia and racism.

Y’all means All. Except ICE and anyone attacking our community.

Fight Ignorance, Not Immigrants.

Los Verdes honran y apoyan el acto de valentía y desafío que La Brigada De Oro mostraron al cancelar su participación en el partido de Nashville SC la semana pasada, debido al aumento de actividad de ICE en el área.

Las gradas deben ser un lugar seguro donde se comparte la pasión por el fútbol y la comunidad. Ningún miembro de la comunidad debe sentirse inseguro por su nacionalidad, etnicidad o estatus migratorio.

Nuestra familia y nuestra comunidad no están completas cuando no estamos todos. Los aficionados no deberían tener que elegir entre seguridad y deporte. I Got My Customized Austin FC License Plates

Back in December 2022, MyPlates announced that they were releasing custom Austin FC license plates and I made my pre-order. I picked them up yesterday.

The 7TO4 message on the plates refer to the Austin City Council vote on August 15, 2018 to move forward with a deal for a Major League Soccer stadium in Austin between the city and Precourt Sports Ventures (now Two Oak Ventures).

The city council vote was 7-4 in favor of Austin FC becoming a reality.

The 7 who voted in favor were Mayor Steve Adler, Mayor Pro Tem Kathie Tovo, and council members Greg Casar, Delia Garza, Jimmy Flannigan, Ann Kitchen, and Pio Renteria.

The 4 council members who voted against the stadium were Alison Alter, Ora Houston, Leslie Pool, and Ellen Troxclair. Boo.

After the vote, Mayor Adler and council members Flannigan and Renteria Austin soccer fans to celebrate at Haymaker.

Lots of beers and hugs and smiles that night.

And when you hear the song from the supporters section at games to the tune of Yellow Submarine, that’s about the 7-4 vote…

Help! I’m taking part in the 31st Annual Austin Marathon Gives to raise money for Soccer Assist, who do great work for a cause that’s very close to my heart.

The organizational mission of Soccer Assist is to help underserved, deserving youth (ages 7-11) participate in well-organized soccer leagues.

In doing so, their collective goal is to add to, diversify, and strengthen the players and families involved in the “Beautiful Game” in the Austin community.

If you are able, please donate to Soccer Assist in my fundraising project on GivenGain – this is my second year doing it and I am trying to beat my donation amount of $1,000 from last year in a big way.

Soccer Assist is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
