Austin FC has officially bolstered its attacking lineup, announcing the acquisition of veteran forward Christian Ramirez via MLS Waivers. The decorated striker, who boasts a trophy cabinet featuring an MLS Cup, a Supporters’ Shield, and a Leagues Cup title, is signed with the Verde and Black through the 2026 season.
A Proven Goal-Scorer Joins the Ranks
Ramirez arrives in Austin with an impressive pedigree and a reputation for consistency. His career highlights include:
- MLS Longevity: 59 goals and 17 assists across 193 appearances.
- Recent Form: Back-to-back seasons with 13 goal contributions (2023–2024) during his successful stint with the Columbus Crew.
- International Experience: Two caps for the USMNT, including a goal against Panama.
- European Stint: A productive period in Scotland with Aberdeen, where he netted 18 goals.
Why It Matters for ATXFC
Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell highlighted Ramirez’s character and skill set, noting that he is “widely respected” across the league. Ramirez will occupy a Supplemental roster slot, providing the club with high-level depth and experience without the heavy roster constraints of a Senior spot.
