I got the chance to visit Austin FC’s Q2 Stadium recently, and it looks fantastic – I can’t wait to be in my seat for the first match on June 19.
The section that reads ATX across it is the supporter’s section, and it’s a “safe standing” section, where there are no seats to sit in. The supporters will stand for each game and there is a bar in front of them to separate everybody and have something to lean on.
As you can see in the previous photo, there are actually seats in this area, but they are locked in place on Austin FC match days. They will be open to sit in for non-Austin FC matches.
When I was walking through there were lots of areas still receiving their final touches, so I was not able to get good photos of the various clubs, bars, restaurants, beer hall, and store.
But the actual stadium itself was breathtaking.
It was such an amazing moment to be standing in the spot where my seat is – after the rollercoaster from 2017 until now I can’t believe it’s real.
