Austin FC and the Austin Soccer Community
Just a week ago the construction for the Austin FC stadium looked like it was going to be shut down for a while, due to COVID-19, but now all construction in Austin is allowed again.
The City of Austin Development Services Department released a letter stating that all construction is considered essential and that Austin code inspectors will be monitoring construction sites to confirm they are practicing social distancing and recommended hygiene practices.
The city of Austin, Travis County. and Williamson County ordered all residents to stay home to reduce the spread of the coronavirus last week, and that will affect the construction of the Austin FC stadium.
A memo from the city of Austin informed businesses they had to cease working on projects by 11:59 pm last Friday, due to COVID-19, according to an article by Chris Bils in the Austin American-Statesman.
The city gave some leeway on construction sites to enable them to make the areas safe.
I watched the Austin FC stadium construction cam a few times today and wasn’t able to see any activity.
Even with the undetermined amount of stoppage time, there is a chance things could stay on schedule with work on Sundays when activity on the site resumes, according to the Bils article.
The groundbreaking is coming soon for the Austin FC stadium, so I figured it was a good time to send along a Guardian Angel (in the form of a candle) for all of the workers who will be building the beautiful complex.
When I got over to Austin FC stadium sign I was expecting to see the bag of tortilla chips left for the grackles, but they’re gone. I’ll get back over with some chips and queso soon for our feathered friends.
I can’t wait to see the stadium begin to rise, and I look forward to passing by often to peek in on the progress.
